Haulwen Jones had replied to our postal letter, and although at first we thought we'd found another relative, it turns out that we're from different families. Even so, we really wanted to meet each other. Haulwen had sent us a lot of research via email that she'd collected for us, which had been very helpful.

We really enjoyed meeting Haulwen and her family, and they walked us to Meifod, on Lower Street, where Haulwen was able to find a man who remembered the cottages there a long time ago. They had been torn down many years before, but he pointed out the marks on the wall of an existing building where the roof of the cottages had been joined to it, and drew us a sketch of what they looked like! We hadn't really expected to find a location, and we were amazed!

They then took us on a lovely tour around the area, and to the farm where Haulwen had been raised. She had written us about it, and it was more lovely than I'd imagined.

Since we've returned, Haulwen has been sending us many wonderful old photographs of our family, an more details about relatives there. She was even able to find a photo of the home in Meifod that had been torn down!
