The concert at Dolanog was an amazing evening for us. Parti Cut Lloi sang, directed by Sian James, who also sang beautifully and played her harp. (Click here for Parti Cut Lloi web site - and their NEW CD!!) When the 18 men began singing, it was so incredible, the first note all by itself was so rich, deep and harmonious that it just gave us chills. Most of the songs were in Welsh, but because they introduced each song in both Welsh and English, we were able to follow the feeling of the song, and Mom and I caught a few words here and there. Some were love songs, some were funny, and we even recognized a couple, so beautiful they brought tears to our eyes.

Part way through, Alun Jones was to sing, and he asked about the Americans who were researching the Isaac family. Mom and I could hardly believe it, but he then went on to say that they'd researched the family, and had found out that they had been rogues and ruffians, and had left the area owing everyone here (a sweep of his hand) money!! We almost fell off our chairs with laughter - it made us feel so special!

We had enjoyed visiting with the Reverend Williams earlier in the day, and towards the end of the concert he went up to thank the singers. Afterwards he added that they'd like me to come up and accept a gift for Mom and me - I was blushing red in front of all those people, but I surprised myself when I managed to say "thank you" in Welsh - not an adequate expression of the emotion I felt at the moment - for a little red book, The Common Book of Prayer, in both Welsh and English. I was totally overwhelmed, and the reaction of all those wonderful smiling Welsh faces was so sweet.

Mom and I had learned the first verse of the Welsh National Anthem in order to practice our pronunciation. When everyone stood and began to sing it, we were so thrilled to be able to sing along. The Reverend Williams invited us to tea next door, where we enjoyed visiting with many members of the choir and the people there.

Mom and I couldn't have imagined a more special evening. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and we sure did -We will never forget it.
