Before we left, Thomas & Kathleen surprised us with a beautiful drive to Barmouth, on a very scenic route through Bala on the way there, and via Dinas Mawddwy on our return, and along the south shore of Lake Vyrnwy. Barmouth is an interesting town that spans the narrow band of land between the sea and the high rocks behind, with some of the houses perched high on those rocks.

As we returned, we loved seeing the high pastures above the lake where Thomas has shepherded since the 1960s, and hearing some of his stories about working there. They sent us home with many wonderful treasures of Wales, including some music tapes, history books, recipe books, photographs and... lots of great memories.
